NCP unveils 24-point ‘New Bangladesh Manifesto’
Online desk: The Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) has announced a 24-point manifesto outlining its vision for a “New Bangladesh” and establishment of a Second Republic.
The declaration was made by NCP Convenor Nahid Islam during a rally held at Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Sunday evening (August 3).
Nahid Islam said the party was born out of the collective desire to build a new nation reflecting the aspirations and grievances of the people. “Exactly one year ago, we stood here and pledged to free this country from autocracy. Today, we return with a roadmap—our 24-point vision for a Second Republic,” he told the gathering.
NCP’s 24-Point Manifesto:
1. Adoption of a new constitution and founding of a Second Republic
2. Recognition and justice for the July uprising
3. Reform of democratic and state institutions
4. Justice system based on fairness and legal reform
5. Service-oriented administration and anti-corruption measures
6. People-friendly law enforcement agencies
7. Village parliaments and stronger local governance
8. Independent media and empowered civil society
9. Universal healthcare
10. Education policy for nation-building
11. Revolution in research, innovation, and ICT
12. Dignity of religion, community, and ethnicity
13. Women’s safety, rights, and empowerment
14. Justice-driven economy
15. Youth empowerment and employment
16. Diversified trade and industrialization strategy
17. Sustainable agriculture and food sovereignty
18. Rights of workers and farmers
19. National resource management
20. Urbanization, transportation, and housing planning
21. Climate resilience and river-sea protection
22. Rights and dignity of expatriate Bangladeshis
23. Pro-Bangladesh foreign policy
24. National defense strategy
Concluding the declaration, Nahid Islam said, “With your support, we have defeated fascist rule and reclaimed our sovereignty. Today, we call upon every citizen—let us unite to realize these 24 goals and build the new Bangladesh we all dream of.”
