Jamaat welcomes election schedule, plans campaign for ‘Yes’ vote in referendum

Bangladesh desk: Jamaat-e-Islami has welcomed the announcement of the schedule for the 13th national election, declaring that the party—along with its seven allied parties—will launch programmes to secure a ‘Yes’ victory in the upcoming national referendum.

Party spokesperson Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair made the remarks on Thursday shortly after the Election Commission (EC) unveiled the election timetable.

“With the announcement of the election schedule, the uncertainty around the polls has ended. We will meet with the top leaders of the eight parties to decide the next course of action,” he said.

Earlier in the evening, Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin announced that voting for the 13th national election will take place on 12 February 2026, with the national referendum scheduled for the same day.
