Khaleda Zia’s mausoleum opened to public
Bangladesh desk: The mausoleum of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been opened to the public.
The authorities opened the entrance for all at noon on Thursday at Zia Udyan in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, allowing people to pay their respects.
After that, party leaders, activists and members of the public were seen gathering on the mausoleum premises to offer tributes. Many were seen waited at the barricades near the entrance on Bijoy Sarani intersection. Unable to enter the burial ground, many offered prayers while standing on the road.
Former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar came to pay his tribute to Begum Khaleda Zia in the morning. He offered Munajat (special prayers) at the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia.
It is understood that the park entrance was previously restricted due to ongoing renovation work, but it has now been opened.
