Bangladesh: Holy Ramadan begins

The holy month of fasting began in the country on Sunday.
The decision of Ramadan was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital on Saturday evening after the crescent moon of Ramadan was sighted in the skies of Bangladesh.
State Minister for Religious Affairs and National Moon Sighting Committee President Md Faridul Haque Khan presided over the meeting.
Devoted Muslims offered Tarabih prayer on Saturday night and took Sehri after the midnight.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages greeting the countrymen and all Muslim ummah across the world with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
