Bangladesh suspends visa services at Kolkata Deputy High Commission
Online desk: Bangladesh has temporarily suspended visa and consular services at its Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, following similar closures in New Delhi and Agartala.
The suspension came into effect on Wednesday, according to reliable sources in Kolkata.
Under the decision, all visa services for Indian citizens; except business and work visas, have been halted.
A senior official at Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata confirmed the move, stating that consular and visa services have been suspended for all categories except business and work visas.
Sources said the interim government took the decision prioritising the security of Indian nationals travelling to Bangladesh amid prevailing circumstances.
Earlier, on December 22, Bangladesh temporarily suspended visa issuance and consular services at Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, as well as at Assistant High Commission in Agartala and the visa centre in Siliguri.
The services have remained suspended since then.
