DU ex-student shot dead in US, mother crying at home

Online desk: A former student of Dhaka University was shot to death by miscreants at a shop in the state of Texas of the United States on Friday.
Deceased Sheikh Abir Hossain, 38, son of late Sheikh Azizul Hakim, was a resident of Jhapaghat village under Kalaroa upazila in Satkhira district. He was a former student of Social Welfare department at Dhaka University.
He was engaged with Lamar University in Texas as a research assistant. Besides, he used to work at a shop named Chris Food Mart temporarily at night. His wife and a daughter live in New York.

Quoting Abir’s wife Sanzida Alam, brother of the deceased Sheikh Zakir Hossain said two miscreants shot Abir to death on spot as he intercepted them while they were trying to flee away taking cigarette from the shop without paying its worth money.
Anzuara Begum, mother of the deceased, was seen to be sick as she kept crying in the village after learning about the incident. She was repeatedly saying, “Someone bring my son here. I at least want to see his face.”
