Sufiur Rahman appointed as Special Assistant to Chief Adviser

Former diplomat Mohammad Sufiur Rahman has been appointed as the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser with the rank of a State Minister.

He will discharge his duties at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to a circular issued by the Cabinet Division today.

Sufiur Rahman served as Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva. He had earlier served as Bangladesh’s Ambassador to both Australia and Myanmar.

According to the Cabinet Division circular, the Chief Adviser of the interim government appointed Sufiur Rahman as Special Assistant with the rank and status of a State Minister.

In line with the Rules of Business 1996, he has been vested with the executive authority in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist the Chief Adviser.
