Pori Moni’s no-confidence prayer rejected

Online desk: A Dhaka tribunal rejected the no-confidence petition filed by actress Pori Moni against the probe report of Savar police in an attempted rape and murder case.
Later, the tribunal accepted the charges against three people, including Uttara Club Limited’s former president Nasir U Mahmud and his associate Tuhin Siddiqui Omi and Shah Shahidul Alam in the case.
Judge Md Hemayet Uddin of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-9 of Dhaka on Monday passed the order after scrutinising case documents.
The judge issued arrest warrant against Shahidul Alam as he remained fugitive since the incident. At the same time, the judge fixed March 3, 2022 for the next hearing of the case.
On September 6, inspector (investigation) of Savar Model police station Mohammad Kamal Hossain, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka.
Pori Moni filed the attempted rape and murder case against six people including Nasir, also a real-estate businessman and presidium member of the Jatiya Party on June 14.
Following the case, a team of detectives conducted a raid at a house in Uttara Sector-1 and arrested Nasir and Omi the same day.
They were also shown arrested in another case filed with Airport police station under the Narcotics Control Act.
