Eid travelers being subjected to extreme injustice: Jamaat Ameer
Bangladesh desk: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and opposition leader Dr Shafiqur Rahman has accused the government of overseeing what he called the worst mismanagement in history during this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr travel season, saying homebound travelers are being subjected to extreme injustice.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday morning, March 20, Dr Shafiqur said millions of people wait all year with hope and excitement to reunite with their loved ones during Eid.
“Bangladesh has witnessed the most disgraceful mismanagement in its history this time. The government must take responsibility for this,” he wrote.
He blamed the crisis on statements made by the concerned minister shortly after the government was formed, calling them the root cause of the current disorder.
He accused the government of misleading the public by claiming that bus operators were charging fares lower than normal during the Eid travel period, describing the assertion as a blatant lie.
“Who will address the suffering and grief of the people?” Dr Rahman asked. “Is our beloved Bangladesh heading back into the grip of fascism? If anyone attempts to impose fascist rule, here is the bad news for them — the awakened youth and people of this country will not tolerate it.”
He warned those responsible for the crisis to exercise caution while there is still time, saying they will ultimately bear the consequences of the disruption they have caused.
